Hi, I’m Kim Thomas — owner and founder of Cats Meow Resort.

For years, I saw something most people didn’t: cats were being overlooked in the pet care world.

In 2006, I founded West Hartford Pet Sitters, which grew into one of the largest pet-sitting services in Connecticut. That experience opened my eyes to how many cat parents wished there was something more than a quick visit and a food bowl top-off.

That realization led me to create The Mobile Pet Spa, where I discovered just how deeply cats benefit from gentle, knowledgeable grooming. Wanting to do this at the highest level, I became a Certified Feline Master Groomer and built my career around helping cats feel safe, calm, and beautifully cared for.

But even then, I knew something was still missing.

Clients would often ask, “Is there somewhere my cat can stay where they’ll be truly comfortable, not caged, not stressed, and genuinely cared for while I’m away?”

That question is what inspired Cats Meow Resort.

Here in Avon, I created a cat-only boarding and grooming retreat designed entirely around how cats live and what helps them feel at ease — quiet spaces, window views, gentle handling, and personalized attention. No barking dogs. No chaos. Just thoughtful, feline-centered care.

My journey has taken me from Paris to New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, and back home to Connecticut, where I married my husband and now share life with our two beloved cats, Simba and Sampson.
